The Oakland Port Authority (in collaboration with the Oakland Museum) commissioned Along the Way for the "Media Wall" of the newly constructed Terminal 2 at the Oakland International Airport. Shown left is the new terminal and Media Wall shortly before being opened to the public. Right is the terminal in operation with Along the Way playing on the Media Wall.

Along the Way is a video mosaic comprised of 1,152 separate video portraits. . Each portrait is a 30 second clip taken of Bay Area residents using digital cameras. From the initial mosaic, the video slowly zooms into the individual portraits, then cycles back into another mosaic.
